A fifth-generation Californian, Bud was raised in the small town of Los Gatos, a town closely tied to Silicon Valley with scores of sit-down restaurants, including a Michelin three-star restaurant, Manresa.
Following a tour of duty in Viet Nam, Bud attended Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo, specializing in electronic engineering. This led to Southern California to work in Hollywood and the Special Effects Film industry. While producing special effects for both film and TV, Bud received an Academy Award for his pioneering technical contributions.
Looking for a career change, Bud aimed his sights on commercial real estate, where he successfully leased and sold over 5 million square feet of office and industrial space before specializing in land entitlement/ development for home communities. Land entitlement, building, and selling a couple hundred homes have given Bud a unique perspective of the Southern California housing industry.
Outside activities include both supporting and participating in racing sailboats to such destinations as Mexico, Canada and Hawaii. When not racing, he is on the water supporting various youth sailing groups. To round out the sporting year, Bud and his wife can be found on the golf course or ski slopes.
Previously on the Board for the University of La Verne, Bud continues to support the University as an important institution in the Inland Empire.
“Helping others” is core to Bud’s outlook on life.
